What you do

Two players, always on a split screen, swap between science fiction and fantasy worlds. One chapter you ride hover-bikes, the next you become animals, the next you are pinball balls. Every puzzle needs both of you.

Who it suits

Couples, siblings or two close friends. It is strictly for two, and it works best when you can see each other react.

Strictly two players

There is no solo mode and no third seat. That sounds limiting, but it means every scene is built around the two of you, and both players always have something interesting to do.

The side stories

Little glowing portals hide short side stories that last five to ten minutes. They are some of the best moments in the game, so do not rush past them.

Friend's Pass

Only one of you needs to own the game. The other downloads the free Friend's Pass and joins online, which makes it an easy evening to arrange with someone who lives far away.

On deck

  • Constant variety: new ideas every chapter
  • Friend's Pass means only one copy is needed
  • Superb local split screen

Below deck

  • Only for two
  • Story moments slow down the pace for groups who just want action

Verdict

The best two-player evening money can buy, as long as there are exactly two of you.
